ABOUT ME
Jay Karr, LPCC-S, NCC
Based in Columbus, Ohio, I offer in-person and online counseling services to clients located in Ohio. I am passionate about providing an inclusive, supportive, non-judgmental space for meaningful change and healing.

Jay's Background
Counseling is a second career for me.
It took decades of the personal and professional experiences to bring me to this work. In fact, it was a conversation with my own counselor at the time that helped me make a connection with this career and path I had never envisioned on my own. That connection, once seen, couldn’t be unseen. Rather than weighing the pros and cons, I was confident knowing that I was meant to do something more, with an understanding of how the journey shaped me.
Before my career transition into psychotherapy I worked for 20 years in a people and business-focused career that took me around the world. This provided a foundation for supporting clients through transitions, finding meaning through challenges and the uncertainty of what’s next, and expanding the capacity for resilience and growth.
My approach to therapy
My trauma-informed, integrative approach takes advantage of evidence-based strengths while engaging in the meaning-making process. My evidence-based approach is based on an Existential Therapy orientation, integrating modalities in which I’ve completed formal training, including:
